In response to rising drug abuse among youth in Plateau State, we organized a community sensitization campaign, collaborating with high schools to educate students on the dangers of substance abuse and provide psychosocial counseling. 250 students were directly impacted, fostering awareness and behavioral change.
Operating in a crisis-prone rural community in northeastern Nigeria, we launched a back-to-school campaign, supporting 10 indigent children with full educational materials. In partnership with LEAP Africa, we conducted a three-day awareness campaign in Amansea Community, testing 100+ women for Rhesus factor compatibility. Women at risk received RhoGAM injections, reducing pregnancy complications. This initiative, in collaboration with local healthcare providers and the Anambra State Ministry of Health, promoted maternal health and sustainable healthcare access.
As part of our commitment to youth empowerment, we trained 60 young entrepreneurs on “Digital Skills Needed to Grow and Expand Their Startups.” This initiative involved strategic planning and needs assessment with our team to identify key gaps and opportunities. We also engaged with organizations and corporate partners to enhance capacity-building efforts, equipping young entrepreneurs with the tools to scale their businesses in the digital economy.
In collaboration with organizations, partners, and donors, we implemented strategic programs to combat period poverty. Through this initiative, we donated over 400 sanitary towels to young girls in northeastern Nigeria and conducted menstrual hygiene management sensitization sessions. This effort aimed to promote dignity, health, and education, ensuring that no girl misses school due to a lack of menstrual products.
To combat gender-based violence (GBV), I spearheaded a secondary school tour in a rural community, reaching over 3,000 students with information, education, and communication materials on GBV. This initiative contributed to a reduction in GBV cases and established a safe space where young people could openly discuss their sexual and reproductive health and rights, fostering awareness and empowerment
During the COVID-19 lockdown, we mobilized our team to address the mental health crisis through social media engagements and an online psychosocial support clinic, reaching young people across three countries. We partnered with doctors and psychologists to provide free counseling on depression, addiction, and sexual and reproductive health. One notable case involved guiding a teenager with an unwanted pregnancy through parental discussions and medical referrals. This initiative offered lifesaving support and reinforced the importance of mental well-being during the pandemic.
